Et Moi, Et Moi, Et Moi - Jacques Dutronc - 1966
This is the first single released by French singer/songwriter and actor Jacques Dutronc, which appeared on his first self-titled album, released in 1966. It went to #2 in France and had some popularity in Europe, alas in the US - résponse nulle - until the groovy French pop music hipster rediscovery moment of the early 20th century. That’s when yours truly became a bit obsessed with all sorts of 60’s 70’s French pop music and artists including Serge Gainsbourg, France Gall, Brigit Bardot, Gillian Hills, etc. A good cross section of the era can be found on two classic CD collections ‘Pop a Paris - Rock and Roll and Mini Skirts’ both of which can be found on Spotify. With it’s garage rock, almost punkish edge, this song kinda set a new bar by breaking with the au courant soft-pop French styles, and confirmed that yes, Ze French can rock, mai oui! And all this before Plastique Bertrand made the scene! Dutronc, also an accomplished actor in France, continued making a handful of great songs including ‘Les Cactus’ (also in comments). Amusez-vous!
